PUR (polyurethane-based) glue was introduced in the mid '80s as alternative to hot-melt glue for binding operations. Its special features are a combination of strength, pliancy, water-resistance and stability at temperatures from -40°C to 100°C. Latest-generation PUR glues dry in a few seconds at room temperature. It is the most economical form of glue since only .01 mm is required for application.
In addition to economy, there is another environmental benefit: PUR glue is lighter than traditional glues, so during the recycling process it floats to the top of the mix and is more easily skimmed off. Just another example of how Transcontinental never feels bound by tradition and is always searching for the best processes and technologies.
